Research project about Muslims in Germany

How many Muslims live in Germany? How religious are German Muslims? To what extent are Muslims in Germany organised into associations?

For a long time, there has been a gap in research in Germany with regard to Muslims living here. There was hardly any reliable information about their lives and daily routines or the significance of religion and religious practices within the Muslim community. Politicians and authorities therefore had to rely on often imprecise estimates.

Study: Muslim life in Germany

This gap in our knowledge was closed in 2009 with the publication of the study ""Muslim life in Germany" - Complete version (pdf, 6 MB)". It was commissioned by the German Islam Conference and provides comprehensive information and reliable data concerning diverse aspects of the life of the Muslim population in Germany.
